The Pirates pack of junior Maddie Brightman and freshmen Gina Bing and Emily Didion finished in the top 10, with sophomore Jamie Schlottag 11th. Jarrett finished fourth at 21:05, with the Tigers’ Brittany Stockmaster finishing first in 19:08. Led by freshman Samantha Jarrett, the youthful Pirates challenged the reigning OHSAA Division III State Runner-up Seneca East, falling short 36 points to 38.

On the women’s side, UIC senior Tess Ehrhardt won the Championship in a 5K time of 17:47.63, nearly 15 seconds ahead of junior Anna Pompeo of Youngstown State (18:02.01). Rupe finished at 25:40.0 while Shafer finished runner-up at 25:49.3.
In the men’s 8K race, junior Eric Rupe of Youngstown State broke away from a pack of Titans including sophomore Ryan Hofsess and senior Martin Nelkie and Wright State senior Dan Shafer. It represented both school’s first Horizon League Cross Country Championship.
